Alignment Reflection
Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment
This best aligns with standard ten of the Wisconsin Teacher Development and Licensure Standards. This standard states “The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well-being and who acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner.” This experience aligns with standard ten because the interview fostered a relationship with this third grade teacher in the community. By interviewing the teacher I learned how to include the Common Core standards into lesson plans, how to exercise best practices in the classroom, how to assess students, and the variety of ways to incorporate literature into a classroom. I asked all of the questions in the interview with integrity and in an ethical manner. The interview with the teacher allowed me to not only create a relationship with another teacher, but introduced me to the importance of relationships with parents and the community. The parents and community are the ones who support the students, and this was shown when I asked about how she received books for her classroom library. She responded, “I get my books through a variety of ways. I get money donations and Barnes and Noble gift cards from parents.” Parents and the community are very important support systems for the students. Interviewing this third grade teacher allowed me to form a relationship with another teacher and a community.
UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment
This artifact best aligns with KSD4.e. of the UWP School of Education Knowledge, Skill, and Disposition statements which states, “The candidate is aware of opportunities for professional development to improve content knowledge and pedagogical skill and can take an active role in assisting other educators.” Conducting this interview and reflecting on it, allowed me to grow as a professional. This was an opportunity to develop as teacher because I learned about practices that make a classroom successful. I asked questions that will be applicable to improve my pedagogical skills as a future teacher. It shows that I can be an active teacher, who is able to connect to with other teachers. The responses from this third grade teacher will contribute to me growing and developing as a professional.

Personal Reflection
What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience:
I learned that a big part of teaching is collaboration. When you communicate and work with other teachers, you can learn so much from each other. Even something as simple as an interview with a third grade teacher from back home was able to teach me how to become a better teacher. Working with colleagues is a very important piece to becoming a great teacher and is a big part of growing professionally.
What I learned about myself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience/artifact:
I learned I need to create relationships with other teachers and gain mentors to help me become successful teacher. I look up to the teacher I interviewed and our relationship will help me as a future educator. My pre-student teaching teacher also made a huge impact on my teaching career. As I go forth in my teaching career, it will be important to continuing building these relationships. When I get a teaching job, it will be important to find a mentor at the school who will guide and mold me into a great teacher.
